Sarmiento contra Boca Juniors — Copa Argentina

**Sarmiento 0-2 Boca Juniors**

**Playing Style:** Boca Juniors dominated the game with a high-pressing, possession-based approach, controlling 60% of the ball and completing 475 passes, most of which were accurate (85%). They focused on creating chances in the opponent’s half, with 175 passes in the opposition half and 13 shots inside the box. Sarmiento, on the other hand, played a more defensive and counter-attacking style, with limited ball possession (40%) and fewer passes (322). Their approach was more reactive, with a focus on defensive actions (49 total) and clearing the ball from dangerous areas (23 clearances).

**Strengths and Weaknesses:** Boca Juniors’ strengths lay in their ability to dominate possession, create chances in the opponent’s half, and win aerial duels (13 vs 6). They also had a higher success rate in crosses (4 vs 0) and were more effective in intercepting opponent passes (8 vs 2). However, they struggled to convert their chances, with a 0% conversion rate on big chances and only 4 shots on target.

Sarmiento’s strengths were their defensive organization, with more clearances and blocks (6 vs 0) than Boca Juniors. They also had a higher box entry to shot rate (100 vs 61), indicating they were more clinical when they did get into the box. However, their lack of possession (40%) and limited passing (322) made it difficult to create consistent chances. They also had fewer shots on target (1 vs 4) and were less effective in the final third.

**Conclusion:** Boca Juniors deserved their 2-0 win based on their dominance in possession, passing, and pressure in the opponent’s half. They had more shots (17 vs 4), more shots on target (4 vs 1), and more big chances (0/1 converted vs 0/0). Despite this, they failed to convert their opportunities, with a 0% conversion rate on big chances. Sarmiento, while more clinical in their limited chances, lacked the volume and quality of attacks to threaten Boca Juniors’ goal. Their defensive actions and clearances were effective, but they struggled to create meaningful chances. The final score reflects Boca Juniors’ control of the game, even though they were not clinical in front of goal.
